Ingredients

Scale

🛒 Ingredients (for 2 sandwiches):

For the Sandwich:

  • 4 slices sourdough, brioche, or artisan white bread

  • 46 oz Brie, Camembert, Havarti, or Gouda (sliced)

  • 1 small apple (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), thinly sliced

  • 4 tablespoons cranberry sauce (homemade or canned whole-berry)

  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened

  • Optional proteins: sliced turkey, chicken, or ham

  • Optional extras: fresh thyme, honey drizzle, or arugula

For the Optional Apple-Cranberry Sauce (if making fresh):

  • ½ cup cranberries (fresh or frozen)

  • ¼ cup apple, finely diced

  • 2 tablespoons sugar or maple syrup

  • 12 tablespoons water

  • Pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

📝 Instructions: Step 1: (Optional) Make the Apple-Cranberry Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, diced apple, sugar, water, and spices.
Simmer 5–8 minutes until berries burst and sauce thickens. Cool slightly.

Step 2: Prep the Sandwich

Spread a thin layer of cranberry sauce on two slices of bread.
Layer with cheese slices, apple slices, and optional turkey or ham.
Top with the remaining bread slices.

Step 3: Butter & Grill

Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich.
Heat a skillet over medium-low.
Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
Press gently with a spatula for extra meltiness.

Step 4: Serve

Slice in half and serve warm with extra cranberry sauce, honey drizzle, or fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Cheese Choice: Brie offers the best creaminess; Gouda or Havarti add a mild buttery flavor.
  • Extra Crunch: Lightly sauté apple slices with butter + cinnamon for caramelized flavor.
  • Holiday Hack: Perfect use for leftover cranberry sauce + turkey.
  • Upgrade Option: Add a handful of arugula after grilling for freshness.
