This dump cake combines tender apples with warm gingerbread spices and a buttery cake topping. It’s a simple, comforting dessert with all the festive flavors of gingerbread.
Ingredients

4 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 box spice cake mix (15 oz)
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Apple Layer: Toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Spread evenly in the dish.
Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not stir.
Top with Butter & Nuts: Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Sprinkle nuts if using.
Bake: Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.
Cool & Serve: Cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use brown butter instead of regular butter.
- Can add ½ cup raisins or chopped dates for extra sweetness and texture.
