Instructions
📝 Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Oven and Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
Step 4: Add Mix-Ins
Gently fold in chocolate chips, nuts, and chopped cherries.
Step 5: Bake
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Top with extra chocolate chips, nuts, or cherries if desired. Bake for 60–70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 6: Optional Banana Split Bread Boat
Hollow out the center of the cooled loaf and fill with sliced bananas, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and cherries for a dessert-style presentation.
Notes
- Ripen Bananas: Overripe bananas give the sweetest, moistest bread.
- Avoid Overmixing: Stir until ingredients are just combined to prevent dense bread.
- Make Ahead: Bake a day ahead for easier slicing; keeps well at room temperature for 2–3 days.
- Mix Variations: Substitute chocolate chips with peanut butter chips or add a swirl of caramel for extra indulgence.
