Instructions

📝 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Cupcakes

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Stir in vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients alternating with milk until a smooth batter forms. Fold in blueberries gently. Add a small amount of blue or purple food coloring if desired.

Divide the batter evenly among cupcake liners.

Step 2: Bake

Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from oven and allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.

Step 3: Make the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar.

Add vanilla extract and blueberry jam or puree. Mix until smooth. Add milk a little at a time until the frosting reaches a fluffy, spreadable consistency.

Add blue or purple food coloring if you want a stronger berry-themed color.

Step 4: Decorate

Pipe the blueberry buttercream onto cooled cupcakes using a piping bag or spoon.

Top with fresh blueberries and sprinkles. Add Strawberry Shortcake themed toppers or decorations for a fun character-inspired dessert.

Notes

  • Extra Blueberry Flavor: Add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the batter to brighten the blueberry flavor.
  • Frozen Blueberries: Toss frozen blueberries in a little flour before mixing into the batter to prevent sinking.
  • Kid-Friendly Activity: Let kids decorate their own cupcakes with blueberries and sprinkles.
