Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Add-ins:

  • 1 cup butterscotch chips

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

📝 Instructions:

Step 1: Prep the Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3: Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large bowl, cream softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

Step 4: Add Eggs and Vanilla
Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6: Fold in Chips
Gently fold in butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and optional nuts.

Step 7: Scoop and Bake
Scoop dough (about 2 tablespoons per cookie) onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft.

Step 8: Cool
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chewy Cookies: Use more brown sugar than white sugar for extra chewiness.
  • Extra Soft: Slightly underbake for a soft, gooey center.
