Ingredients

🛒 Ingredients (for one 9×13-inch baking dish):

For the Filling:
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup carrots, diced
1 cup celery, diced
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon paprika

For the Sauce:
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

For the Layers:
24–30 wonton wrappers or dumpling wrappers
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (extra for layering)
2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

📝 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Filling
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrots, and celery. Cook for 5–7 minutes until softened. Stir in shredded chicken, salt, pepper, thyme, and paprika. Set aside.

Step 2: Make the Creamy Sauce
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes. Slowly add chicken broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir in cream and milk, then simmer until thickened. Add mozzarella and Parmesan, stirring until melted and smooth.

Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of wonton wrappers, then chicken filling, then sauce. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and extra cheese on top.

Step 4: Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

Step 5: Rest and Serve
Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use Frozen Dumplings: You can substitute wonton wrappers with small frozen dumplings for a chunkier texture.
  • Avoid Sogginess: Keep the sauce thick and don’t overuse liquid to maintain structure.
  • Flavor Boost: Add mushrooms or spinach for extra depth.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble the dish a day in advance and refrigerate before baking.
