Instructions
📝 Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Base
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese (and butter, if using) until smooth and creamy.
Step 2: Add Chocolate
If using cocoa powder: sift it and add to the cream cheese, mixing until fully incorporated.
If using melted chocolate: fold gently into the cream cheese mixture until smooth.
Step 3: Sweeten & Flavor
Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat on low speed to avoid sugar dust, then increase to medium until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Adjust Consistency
Add milk or cream 1 teaspoon at a time until frosting reaches desired spreadable consistency. For piping, keep slightly firmer.
Step 5: Use or Store
Spread immediately over cooled cakes, cupcakes, or cinnamon rolls. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; bring to room temperature and re-whip before using.
Notes
- No Butter Version: Skip butter for a tangier, softer frosting. Chill before piping.
- Cinnamon Rolls: Spread while rolls are slightly warm for a glaze-like effect.
- Rich Chocolate: Use dark chocolate or add a teaspoon of espresso powder to intensify flavor.
- Make Ahead: Frosting can be made 1 day ahead; keep covered in the fridge.
