Ingredients

Scale

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6):

For the Chicken:

  • 2 lbs (900g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs

  • ½ cup soy sauce

  • ½ cup honey

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 tablespoon fresh grated)

  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

For Thickening (Optional):

  • 12 teaspoons cornstarch

  • 12 tablespoons water

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

📝 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and red pepper flakes.

Step 2: Add Chicken to Crockpot
Place chicken thighs in the slow cooker. Pour sauce over chicken, making sure each piece is coated.

Step 3: Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until chicken is tender and fully cooked.

Step 4: Optional Thickening
If you prefer a thicker, stickier sauce, remove ½ cup of the cooking liquid, mix with cornstarch, then stir back into the crockpot. Cook an additional 10–15 minutes on HIGH until sauce thickens.

Step 5: Serve & Garnish
Serve over cooked rice or noodles. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Chicken Thighs vs Breasts: Thighs stay juicier and absorb sauce better.
  • Vegetables: Add potatoes, carrots, or bell peppers in the last hour of cooking for a complete meal.
  • Make Ahead: Sauce can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge; add to chicken before slow cooking.
  • Sticky Sauce: For extra sticky honey garlic chicken, cook uncovered for the last 15–20 minutes.
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
