In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla (and rum extract if using).
Gradually add dry ingredients alternately with eggnog, mixing just until combined.
Step 2: Bake the Bread
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 3: Add Glaze (Optional)
Whisk powdered sugar, eggnog, and rum extract until smooth.
