¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare Pan
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8- or 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
Step 2: Melt Chocolate & Butter
In a heatproof bowl over simmering water (or in the microwave in 30-second intervals), melt chocolate and butter together until smooth. Stir in vanilla and salt.
Step 3: Whip Eggs & Sugar
In a large bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until pale and slightly thickened.
Step 4: Combine Ingredients
Fold the melted chocolate mixture gently into the eggs until fully incorporated.
Step 5: Bake
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the top is set but the center is still slightly soft. Avoid overbaking to keep the cake fudgy.
Step 6: Cool & Serve
Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar, and garnish with berries or chocolate shavings if desired. Serve with whipped cream or ganache.
