Ingredients

Scale

🛒 Ingredients (serves 4–6):

For the Salad:

  • 4 large ripe tomatoes, chopped

  • 1 large cucumber, sliced into half-moons

  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 cup Kalamata olives

  • 7 oz (200g) feta cheese, cut into cubes or crumbled

  • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons capers

For the Dressing:

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar or fresh lemon juice

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Grilled chicken or shrimp for protein

  • Romaine or iceberg lettuce for added crunch

Instructions

📝 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and chop tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, and red onion. Slice cucumber into half-moons and bell pepper into thin strips.

Step 2: Assemble the Salad
In a large salad bowl, combine tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, bell pepper, and olives. Add feta on top.

Step 3: Make the Dressing
In a small bowl or jar, whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar or lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Step 4: Dress the Salad
Pour dressing over the salad and gently toss to combine. Be careful not to break up the feta too much.

Step 5: Serve
Serve immediately as a side dish or add grilled chicken/shrimp to make it a main course. Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or mint.

Notes

  • Authentic Tip: Traditional Greek salad doesn’t include lettuce—tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and feta are enough.
  • Storage: Best eaten fresh. Store dressing separately if making ahead.
  • Variations: Add roasted red peppers, artichokes, or a sprinkle of capers for extra flavor.
