Step 1: Bake Cake

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and pumpkin puree.
Gradually add dry ingredients alternately with milk, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.
Step 2: Prepare Frosting
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
