Step 1: Preheat & Prep Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: Make Cookie Batter
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pumpkin puree, egg, and pumpkin spice (if using). Stir until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips or candy if desired.
Step 3: Bake
Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
Step 4: Decorate
Tint frosting with orange and black food coloring. Spread a crumb coat first, chill 10–15 minutes, then frost completely. Add candy eyes, chocolate chips, or sprinkles to create a Halloween design like a pumpkin face, spider, or ghost.
