  • Yield: 4–6 servings
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A classic Japanese dessert featuring chilled cubes of coffee-flavored gelatin, often served with sweetened condensed milk or cream. Refreshing, slightly bitter, and delightfully smooth, it’s perfect as a light treat or elegant dessert.

Ingredients

🛒 Ingredients (serves 4–6):

For the Coffee Jelly:
2 cups strong brewed coffee
3 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
2 teaspoons gelatin powder (or 1 tablespoon agar-agar for vegetarian option)
2 tablespoons hot water (for dissolving gelatin)

For Serving:
½ cup sweetened condensed milk or heavy cream
Ice cubes (optional)
Optional: coffee beans or chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

📝 Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Gelatin
If using gelatin, sprinkle over 2 tablespoons hot water and let bloom for 5 minutes. If using agar-agar, skip this step and dissolve directly in hot coffee.

Step 2: Mix Coffee and Sweetener
Heat the brewed coffee gently. Stir in sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat.

Step 3: Combine Gelatin and Coffee
Add bloomed gelatin to hot coffee and stir until completely dissolved. For agar-agar, dissolve it fully in hot coffee following package instructions.

Step 4: Set Jelly
Pour the mixture into a shallow dish or individual cups. Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, until firm.

Step 5: Serve
Cut the set jelly into cubes if using a dish. Serve in cups or bowls, drizzled with condensed milk or cream. Add ice cubes for a chilled version and garnish with coffee beans or chocolate shavings if desired.
