Description

A sweet, nutty, and crunchy treat that can be enjoyed on its own, sprinkled over ice cream, or layered into cakes. This homemade praline crunch combines caramelized sugar, butter, and chopped pecans for a perfect crunchy texture that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale

🛒 Ingredients (makes about 3 cups):

For the Praline Crunch:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup light corn syrup (or honey/maple syrup for corn-syrup-free version)

  • ¼ cup water

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups pecans, chopped

  • Pinch of salt

Optional Add-Ins:

  • 1 cup crispy cereal (like Crispix) for extra crunch

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon for a warm flavor

Instructions

📝 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Pan
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Sugar Mixture
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil without stirring, and cook until the mixture reaches 240°F (soft-ball stage) on a candy thermometer.

Step 3: Add Butter and Nuts
Remove from heat. Stir in butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Add chopped pecans (and optional cereal or cinnamon). Mix quickly to coat evenly.

Step 4: Cool the Praline Crunch
Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer. Let cool completely (about 30–40 minutes). Once hardened, break into bite-sized pieces.

Step 5: Use or Store
Use as a topping for ice cream, mix into cakes, or enjoy as a snack. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Corn-Syrup-Free: Substitute honey or maple syrup for a natural alternative.
  • Extra Crunch: Add Crispix or other cereals for a fun texture twist.
  • Make Ahead: Praline crunch can be made up to a week in advance; store in an airtight container.
