Ingredients

Scale

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 box (15 oz) yellow or spice cake mix

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted or sliced

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

  • Optional: ¼ cup caramel sauce (for drizzling before serving)

Instructions

📝 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with butter or nonstick spray.

  2. Add Apple Layer:

    • Spread apple pie filling evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.

    • Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

  3. Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the apples. Do not stir.

  4. Add Butter & Nuts: Drizzle melted butter over the cake mix. Sprinkle nuts if using.

  5. Cook:

    • Cover and cook on High for 2–2½ hours or Low for 4 hours, until the top is set and golden around the edges.

  6. Finish & Serve:

    • Let it cool slightly, then drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.

    • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For Fresh Apples: Use 5–6 cups peeled, sliced apples tossed with ¼ cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
  • Make It Crispier: Remove the lid for the last 20–30 minutes to let moisture escape.
  • Vegan Option: Use plant-based butter.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or slow cooker.
