2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 box (15 oz) yellow or spice cake mix
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted or sliced
Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Optional: ¼ cup caramel sauce (for drizzling before serving)

Prepare the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with butter or nonstick spray.
Add Apple Layer:
Spread apple pie filling evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the apples. Do not stir.
Add Butter & Nuts: Drizzle melted butter over the cake mix. Sprinkle nuts if using.
Cook:
Cover and cook on High for 2–2½ hours or Low for 4 hours, until the top is set and golden around the edges.
Finish & Serve:
Let it cool slightly, then drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- For Fresh Apples: Use 5–6 cups peeled, sliced apples tossed with ¼ cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
- Make It Crispier: Remove the lid for the last 20–30 minutes to let moisture escape.
- Vegan Option: Use plant-based butter.
