Description

Smash Burger Tacos are a viral TikTok-inspired recipe where seasoned ground beef is pressed directly onto a flour tortilla and cooked smash-burger style in a hot skillet. For the Smash Burger Tacos:

1 pound ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
4 small flour tortillas (street taco size)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
4 slices American cheese (or cheddar)

Toppings:

1 cup shredded lettuce
½ cup diced tomatoes
½ cup sliced pickles
¼ cup diced onions

For the Burger Sauce:

½ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 2: Prep the Beef
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Gently press each portion evenly onto one side of a flour tortilla, spreading it thinly to the edges. Season the beef side with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 3: Cook the Smash Tacos
Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
Place the tortilla beef-side down onto the hot skillet. Press lightly with a spatula.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the beef develops a crispy crust.

Flip the taco so the tortilla side is down. Immediately place a slice of cheese on top of the beef. Cook another 1–2 minutes until the tortilla is golden and slightly crispy and the cheese melts.

 

Step 4: Assemble
Remove from skillet. Top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and drizzle generously with burger sauce. Fold like a taco and serve immediately.
