📝 Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream and egg. Add to flour mixture and gently combine until dough forms.
Shape dough into a rectangle, wrap tightly, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Step 2: Make the Almond Filling
In a medium bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg, almond extract, and vanilla. Stir in almond flour until a thick paste forms. Chill until ready to use.
Step 3: Shape the Kringle
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll dough into a 10×16-inch rectangle. Spread almond filling lengthwise down the center. Fold sides over the filling and gently seal. Shape into an oval ring.
Step 4: Bake
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Cool slightly before glazing.
