This sophisticated trifle is perfect for gatherings, offering a professional presentation with minimal effort. It strikes a perfect balance of tart, sweet, and creamy flavors that guests of all ages will adore.

Ingredients

Scale

1316oz Angel food cake, sliced into 3/4-inch pieces
3 Tbsp Freshly squeezed lemon juice
1.5 tsp Lemon zest
3 Tbsp Honey
1.75 cups Heavy cream, chilled
12 oz Cream cheese, softened
1.25 cups Powdered sugar, sifted
1.5 tsp Pure vanilla extract
16 oz Strawberries, hulled and sliced
18 oz Blueberries
6 oz Raspberries (optional)
Fresh mint leaves (optional garnish)

Instructions

Slice the angel food cake into even 3/4-inch thick slices using a serrated knife.
In a small bowl, whisk together lemon juice, lemon zest, and honey until well combined to create the syrup.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until evenly incorporated.
Place a single layer of cake slices at the bottom of a trifle dish or individual glass bowls.
Drizzle a portion of the lemon-honey syrup over the cake layer.
Spread a layer of the cream cheese mixture over the moistened cake.
Top with a generous layer of mixed strawberries and blueberries.
Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with the cream mixture.
Garnish the top with remaining fresh berries and mint leaves.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Ensure the heavy cream is very cold to achieve the best volume when whipping. The trifle can be assembled up to 4 hours in advance, but for the best texture, assembly right before the event is recommended to keep the cake from becoming overly soggy. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
