Description
This simple bread machine recipe is perfect for everyday baking. It requires minimal effort and creates a tender, golden loaf ideal for sandwiches or toast. Perfect for busy schedules or weekend baking.
Ingredients
1 cup warm water (110°F recommended)
2 tablespoons white sugar (increase to 3 tablespoons for sweeter bread)
1 packet bread machine yeast or 1 tablespoon rapid-rise yeast
¼ cup vegetable oil (use light olive oil for subtle flavor)
3 cups bread flour (high-protein flour for structure)
1 teaspoon salt (coarse sea salt for enhanced crust)
Instructions
Pour 1 cup warm water (110°F) into the bread machine pan.
Add 2 tablespoons sugar, ¼ cup oil, and 1 teaspoon salt.
Spread 3 cups flour evenly across the pan.
Place 1 packet yeast on top of flour, ensuring it is not submerged.
Select the Basic, Light Crust, and 2 lb settings on your bread machine.
Alternatively, choose the White or Standard cycle.
Allow the machine to complete its 2.5-3 hour baking cycle.
Remove the pan from the machine within 30 seconds of the beep to avoid keep-warm mode.
Turn loaf onto a wire rack for 30 minutes to cool.
Wait until the bread is completely cool before slicing (at least 45 minutes).
Notes
Use a thermometer to verify water is 110°F before adding yeast.
Avoid adding salt directly over yeast; keep it separated in the pan.
Scrape off excess flour from the pan before adding ingredients for better texture.
For best flavor and texture, eat within 12 hours as the crumb may harden over time.
