Whether for a celebratory party or a sweet afternoon treat, this straightforward method turns pantry staples into impressive snacks that are sure to please guests of all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
24 oz candy melts
Frosting (approx. 1/2 cup store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
Beat the softened butter and sugar in a large mixer until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla, beating until well incorporated.
Slowly alternate adding the dry ingredients and the milk to the butter mixture, mixing until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool completely, then crumble it into a large bowl.
Mix in just enough frosting to hold the crumbs together into a dough consistency.
Roll the mixture into 24 uniform balls and place on a parchment-lined tray; refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Melt the candy melts according to package instructions.
Dip a lollipop stick into the melted candy, then insert into a cake ball, allowing the candy to act as glue.
Dip the entire cake ball into the melted candy, tapping off excess, and let set until firm.

Notes

Ensure the cake is completely cooled before crumbling to avoid a gummy texture. Use a melon baller for perfectly uniform cake pop sizes. Keep the shaped cake balls chilled until just before dipping to ensure they don’t fall off the stick.
