Indulge in a classic American dessert that pairs tart Granny Smith apples with a buttery, golden crumb topping. This easy-to-make pie features a rich caramel drizzle and toasted pecans for a sophisticated finish. Perfect for holidays or family dinners, this comforting treat offers the perfect balance of sweetness and crunch. Each slice captures the warmth of cinnamon and the wholesome texture of quick oats, making it a professional-grade dessert that home bakers of any skill level can successfully create.

Ingredients

Scale

6 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
6 Tbsp + 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, divided
1/2 tsp salt, divided
3/4 cup cold butter, cubed
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup quick oats
1 store-bought pie crust
1/2 cup pecans, chopped finely
1/2 jar caramel topping

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 6 Tbsp flour, and 1/4 tsp salt until evenly coated.
In a medium bowl, use a pastry cutter to combine cubed cold butter, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, quick oats, and remaining 1/4 tsp salt until crumbly.
Pour apple mixture into the prepared pie shell.
Distribute the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 75 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling and the crust is golden brown.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with finely chopped pecans.
Drizzle the top with caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

To prevent a soggy bottom, pre-bake the crust slightly or cover the edges with foil if they brown too quickly. You can toast the pecans separately before topping to enhance their flavor.
