Description
This classic Cherry Dump Cake is the ultimate stress-free dessert. By layering sweet cherry pie filling with a dry cake mix and topped with rich butter, you achieve a golden, buttery crust with a jammy fruit center. It is a one-pan wonder perfect for last-minute guests, busy weeknights, or simple family gatherings. The addition of almond extract elevates the flavor, creating a professional-tasting cobbler-style treat without the effort of traditional baking.
Ingredients
2 (21 oz) cans cherry pie filling
1 box (approx 15-18 oz) yellow cake mix
1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, thinly sliced or melted
1 tsp almond extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350F degrees.
Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a bowl, stir 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract into each of the two cans of cherry pie filling.
Pour the cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish and smooth into an even layer.
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling.
Distribute the melted butter or thin butter slices evenly over the top of the cake mix.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until the top is deep golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
You can serve this warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the microwave.
