Description

Indulge in a wholesome, crunchy breakfast that brings café-style quality to your kitchen. This nutrient-dense chocolate granola combines hearty rolled oats, fiber-rich flaxseed, and rich cocoa powder, bound together by the natural sweetness of honey and coconut oil. Perfect for busy mornings, this recipe allows you to control the sugar content while ensuring every bite is packed with satisfying chocolate flavor and large, addictive clusters. It is an easy-to-make, pantry-friendly breakfast staple that keeps your family energized throughout the day.

Ingredients

Scale

3.5 cups old-fashioned oats
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup ground flaxseed
0.5 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk the oats, cocoa powder, ground flaxseed, and salt in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the coconut oil, honey, and brown sugar.
Whisk the liquid mixture until the sugar has dissolved and it is well-combined, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the warm liquid mixture over the dry ingredients and stir until every oat is evenly coated.
Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
Bake for 40 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even browning.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on the tray to set the clusters.
Once cooled, stir in the mini chocolate chips.

Notes

Ensure the granola cools completely before adding the chocolate chips to prevent them from melting. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. You can substitute coconut oil with a neutral vegetable oil if desired.
