Description
A comforting hybrid of grilled cheese and garlic bread with crispy edges, gooey cheese, and aromatic garlic. Uses a cheese trio (mozzarella, cheddar, provolone) and sturdy bread for perfect melt and texture. Ready in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or Italian)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
2 cloves garlic (fresh, minced)
2 tablespoons parsley (chopped, optional)
1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated, omit for lactose-free)
1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
1/2 cup provolone cheese (grated)
Instructions
Mix softened butter with minced garlic until incorporated. Add parsley if using
Butter one side of each bread slice generously
Layer equal portions of mozzarella, cheddar, and provolone on unbuttered sides
Press bread slices to form two sandwiches
Heat nonstick skillet over medium-low for 1-2 minutes until warm but not smoking
Place sandwiches butter-side down in skillet. Cook 3-4 minutes until golden, flip gently, and cook another 3-4 minutes. Press lightly with a spatula for even melting
Remove when cheese is fully melted and bread is crisped (8-10 minutes total). Cut diagonally and serve warm
Notes
For gluten-sensitive diets, use certified gluten-free bread
Cheese melting sequence: add cheddar first for bolder flavor, mozzarella second for stretch
Add pressed whole garlic cloves to skillet for extra aroma
Optional additions: tomatoes, caramelized onions, or avocado
