Ingredients
6 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 tbsp white sugar
1.5 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
1 cup brown sugar, packed
0.75 cup certified gluten-free rolled oats
0.75 cup gluten-free 1:1 flour blend
0.5 cup cold butter, cubed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Toss the peeled and sliced apples with the white sugar and 0.5 teaspoon of cinnamon in a medium bowl.
Transfer the apple mixture into a baking dish and spread evenly.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, gluten-free oats, gluten-free flour, and remaining 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter in until the mixture forms coarse, pea-sized crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.
Notes
Ensure you use certified gluten-free oats to maintain the recipe’s dietary requirements. If you prefer, you can swap the apples for pears or add a handful of chopped walnuts for extra crunch. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven before serving.
