Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 large egg, room temperature
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
1 cup confectioners sugar, sifted
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and spray a donut pan thoroughly with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, milk, and yogurt.
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when touched.
While the donuts cool slightly, whisk the pure maple syrup and confectioners sugar together until smooth.
Dip the warm donuts into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off before serving.
Notes
Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For extra texture, top the glaze with chopped toasted walnuts or pecans.
