1/2 medium chopped onion
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
32 oz frozen tater tots
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic (optional)


Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Sauté onion in skillet until translucent (4-5 mins).
Add ground beef, breaking up clumps until browned (7-9 mins).
Drain 2-3 tbsp fat for a leaner version.
Stir in soup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Spread beef-soup mixture in baking dish.
Add thawed (but icy) tater tots evenly across the top.
Sprinkle 1 cup cheese over tater tots.
Bake 45 mins, rotating halfway for even browning.
Top with remaining 1 cup cheese and bake 5 mins more.
Let rest 5-10 mins before serving.
