Description

Ingredients
2 slices white bread (crusty or whole wheat)
1 large tomato (beefsteak or heirloom)
2–3 Tbsp mayonnaise (vegan mayo optional)
Pinch each of salt and black pepper
Instructions
Toast bread on both sides if desired. Allow to cool 1 minute.
Spread 2 tbsp mayonnaise evenly on each bread slice using a spatula.
Cut tomato into ½” thick slices. Generously salt and pepper each slice.
Layer 3-4 tomato slices on one bread half. Spread additional mayo if desired. Close sandwich and press gently.
Cut diagonally for presentation. Consume immediately for optimal texture.
Notes
Dry tomato slices with a towel to reduce moisture for crispier texture.
Use room-temperature mayo for smoother spreading.
Experiment with bread density: brioche for buttery richness, bagel for chewy contrast.
Chill assembled sandwiches 15 minutes for mayo to bind ingredients.
